First off, meet Lil’ Gossamer! He’ll be joining us in our travels while Gossamer is missing…
For those who attend Austin Community College, you may have noticed the search for a new mascot. I am not sure how many people actually are going to concern themselves over this issue. In fact, we are pretty sure no one is going to remotely care what we have to say in this little blog post of ours. The thing is, we at Gossamer’s Travels are completely obsessed with what the new mascot is going to be. For a while, we were cheering to be Chupacapra’s! How amazing would that be? Unfortunately, that mascot never made it and our dream of being Team Chupacapra faded away. As of now, ACC is having a final vote on four mascots: River Bats, Starblazers, Blazers, and Bbhoggawacts.
We refuse to be called Starblazers or Blazers. End of story.
River Bats is cute but very unimaginative.
Bbhoggawacts. What the hell is a Bbhoggawacts? Well, Madam or Sir, I shall tell you! Acctually, I’m just going to copy and paste what the ACC website says:
Pronounced (bo-ga-wax). Did you know “Keep Austin Weird” started with ACC? Actually, it was the brainchild of ACC Professor James (Red) Wassenich. A Bbhoggawact not only embraces the “Keep Austin Weird” theme, it is also an acronym for the eight counties that make up ACC’s 7,000-square-mile service area. Cross out the vowels and you have (B)astrop, (B)lanco, (H)ays, (G)illespie, (G)onzales, (W)illiamson, (C)aldwell, and (T)ravis Counties. A Bbhoggawact is a fictional character, 100% original, and can be defined by the community.

We still have no freakin’ idea what a Bbhoggawacts is but we knew we desperately want that to be our mascot.

We came to a point where we had to make a choice. We could either continue this project or end it. This project was based on Gossamer’s travels but he is no longer with us. We’ve searched, called, cried, and tried everything we could to find him, but no luck. After much debate and even more crying, we decided to continue the project. Gossamer wouldn’t want us to end it.
The problem is, Gossamer was unique. How do we continue without him? Well, obviously there will be changes. Until further notice, GJ is in charge. He misses his Papa, but he’s the best qualified for the job. He’s first act as head traveler was to call his family and friends. Many of them have volunteered to take Gossamer’s place during some trips. Over the next few weeks we will introduce the new members to our little traveling group.
Our Gossamer 365 project is still going. We won’t post every picture here for several reasons. Actually, just one reason: we’re lazy busy. If you still want to follow it, you just have to click this link.

So that’s it. Gossamer is gone and we have to move on now. We will continue traveling, reading, and going to strange events. We won’t give up looking for our Gossy though. If ANYONE in the Austin/Pflugerville/Round Rock area know where Gossamer is, please contact me immediately.

We are back from not doing anything! We spent so much time relaxing, not worrying about responsibility, ignoring the blog. Ya know, the usual. Of course, we have kept up to date with our Gossamer 365 project. (The whole taking a picture everyday for a year of either Gossamer or GJ). I guess whoever reads this is wondering about the mysterious letter we got and if we got it deciphered. Yes we did, and we have a HUGE apology to send out to Francis… the Green Monster.
It turns out he wasn’t stalking Gossamer! (Well… he was but not to hurt him). Francis was just trying to get his autograph!! This is the translation of Francis’ letter:
Gossamer,
I apologize if I have frightened you over the the past few months. As you can see, I have no arms so it is hard for me to write or communicate with sign language. I thought being a fellow monster, you would understand the RAWR language. When we first meet, you were suppose to go to the Grand Canyon. When I went to ask for your autograph, I tripped, knocking you over. I cannot apologize enough for my actions. When the driver arrived, he assumed I was the traveling monster and took me along. He did not understand me since humans rarely speak RAWR. While I feel horrible about what has occurred, it would be a lie to say I did not enjoy my time. I meet a nice couple of humans and a traveling kitty. They helped me take pictures and helped me get back home. I hope in time you can come to forgive me and even someday call me friend.

What a well versed little fellow! After much talking, Gossamer, GJ, and I have decided to adopt the little green monster. He only speaks RAWR but our friend from North Carolina has sent us a RAWR to human translation book to help us out.
GJ seems to adore his new brother… Gossamer is still a little hesitant. Anyways, for our 2 year anniversary we invited Francis to join us. He was just so cute and looked happy to be part of our weird, little family. He’s shy, but seems to love cupcakes.
