GJ and That Puppet Guy

GJ and I got to see Jeff Dunham live!! It was so amazing. He was performing at College Station for the Texas A&M First Yell. It started off with different type of school music and dance performers which led to the amazing Guitar Guy: Brian Haner. He’s creepy expressions make us laugh. A LOT.

Guitar Guy

Now, you have to understand we are HUGE fans of Jeff Dunham. We have seen as many Comedy Central specials and YouTube clips of him as possible. This was our second time to one of his shows and our sides are still hurting from laughing so damn much.

The Reed Arena was completely packed!

Day 160: Jeff Dunham!

For a guy who plays with dolls for a living, he sure has a HUGE fanbase.

I don’t have much to say about this picture expect that it was a very gloomy day.

Gossy looks frightened.

Day 22: Jason VS Gossy
Day 22: Jason VS Gossy
There was a life-size Jason mannequin type thingy at the show! Gossy isn’t really scared of Jason, he’s just pretending. If it came down to a one on one fight, Gossamer would totally whip his butt!

Day 23: STUFF
Day 23: The Swag We Got
Here’s most of the stuff we got from the show! Almost everything in the picture we got for free. We bought the Felix Eddy prints, the Sherlock Holmes graphic novel, Dusk graphic novel, and the Death Note stuff. We forgot to take a picture of the coolest free item from the whole trip. It was a Wolverine foam finger!!! We gave ours away but we’ll try to get a picture of another one soon.

Not For Sale

Gossamer, Sara, GJ, and I all went to Dallas this weekend. Donald was feeling extra cranky so he stayed home. He’s such a moody little duck.

We left to Dallas about 5 to 6 pm. First of all, it’s always best to leave on any road trip early. Forces beyond our control lead us to leaving late and we got stuck in both traffic and rain. We reached Dallas about 9-ish PM.

In Dallas was a two day Sci-Fi Expo. We were there to help out Sara’s dad sell toys and it was a freaking blast. Not only were were surrounded by cool toys, but we got to meet actors, artist, and writers! All your nerdy desires can be found at a Sci-Fi expo.

Say you’re a heart-shaped monster who happens to be a bookworm. Could you possibly find anything that will fancy you? Why, yes you can! Gossy found a Sherlock Holmes graphic novel which he hasn’t let out of his sight since getting it. Gossy also got to meet writer David Doub who was sweet enough to sign our copy of Dusk. (We will attempt to write a review on it sometime soon.)

The actors at the show were Tony Todd, Michael Hogan, Joanna Cassidy, Glenn Morshower, Mark Sheppard, and Adrienne Wilkinson. Gossy got to meet Tony Todd (Candyman) and Joanna Cassidy (Bladerunner). Gossy was giddy-extreme the whole time. It was weird meeting the guy who played Candyman. Tony Todd was such a sweet, cool person while his character from long ago gave us nightmares for years. All the actors were amazing and really fun to talk to! (I didn’t tell Gossy, but I got my picture taken with Glenn Morshower!!)

The whole show was such a fun, weird experience. This is the second time we’ve been to any type of comic-con/sci-fi type thing and we plan for more!

Tomorrow, I’ll have the Gossamer 365 pictures of the Sci-Fi Expo posted here!

Until then, toodles!

I don’t usually stray from travel related subjects, but I just finished watching this and had to share it.

My Bloody Valentine signed Poster

Event: Dallas Comic-Con
When: January 24th & 25th

GJ and I headed out to the Dallas Comic-Con and it was a blast! We were actually there to help a friend out with her booth but we had enough time to look around and meet some cool people. If you were there and saw two crazy girls running around, one carrying GJ; that was us.

First of all, we got to meet Thomas Jane (actor from The Punisher) and Todd Farmer (writer of My Bloody Valentine 3D)!!! Todd Farmer even signed a poster for us and drew a bloody pick-ax! Mr. Farmer is seriously one of the coolest people we ever meet. We hate horror movies but plan to see My Bloody Valentine just because we now know the writer is totally awesome.

Since we were there as help, we mostly talked with other exhibitors and customers. We even got to see people dress in costume, including the Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who! For anyone doesn’t keep track of this blog, we’ve mentioned in the past that we have a huge obsession with Doctor Who. We also saw The Joker, a couple of Green Lanterns, Darth Vader, Spider-Man, and a dude completely covered in blue spandex.

The saddest part for us though was that we could not buy a single thing. (This will be explained in our next post.) We were in awe of all the cool things being sold. We even saw toy Gossamers for sale! They had everything including toys, shirts, movies, jewelry, art, prop replicas, even free stuff, and so much more. We just craved a shirt from Pegasus Publishing or some beautifully odd art by Dirk Strangely. GJ went crazy at the Free Table. He grabbed everything in site! Poor thing had trouble though carrying a poster that was way too big for him. I had to step in and help.

We can not wait to go to another convention. We had so much fun and meet so many people. Who knows, some day we may be there signing autographs. *dreamy sigh*

Totally Bubbly

Gossy Hearts Westerfeld

Justine Larbalestier and Scott Westerfeld

Gossy Reading

Gossy and I really do not know how to write book reviews. For the past few months we’ve been trying to write about a few books we liked. Each time we start our minds would wander and we would argue and in the end, nothing would get done. Today we are sitting down and forcing ourselves at least something about Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. Now, we’ve been debating whether we should discuss the whole series or just one book at a time. If we do all of them in one post, do we include Extras which is basically an… extra book of the Uglies Trilogy. Oh, and there’s also the guide called Bogus to Bubbly that was recently released. All this has totally left us brain-missing. Finally today, in a stroke of brilliance, we’ve came up with a way to describe the books plus what we think of them. (We took one of the descriptions from the author’s website…) Anyways, here it is:

Books: The Uglies Trilogy – Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras, and Bogus To Bubbly
Author: Scott Westerfeld
Genre: Sci-Fi, YA
Uglies- 9/10
Pretties- 7/10
Specials- 8/10
Extras- 8/10
Bogus to Bubbly- Totally Bubbly/10

Uglies, Pretties, and Specials:

It’s about a world in which everyone has an operation when they turn sixteen, making them supermodel beautiful. Big eyes, full lips, no one fat or skinny. This seems like a good thing, but it’s not. Especially if you’re one of the uglies, a bunch of radical teens who’ve decided they want to keep their own faces. (How anti-social of them.)

Extras: Extras takes place 3 years after the events Tally Youngblood caused in Specials and being pretty just doesn’t cut it anymore. Aya Fuse is just trying to get her face rank up but she’s practically a nobody, just an extra. She finally has her chance to kick a huge story on a group of danger-seeking girls but that quickly changes. While all of them are out at the mountains, they discover a secret so dangerous that it gets the attention of the most famous and slightly unstable face on Earth: Tally Youngblood.

Bogus To Bubbly: This is a cute and wonderful look into the world of Uglies. You get information about the history of Tally’s and Aya’s world plus a look into the science of it all. It is defiantly a must read for any Uglies fan.

I think we covered all the basics. I don’t think that was too bad for our first book review. Oh! We even got to meet Scott Westerfeld and his wife Justine Larbalestier at a book signing recently. It was beyond fun and they are both so sweet. Justine Larbalestier was there to promote her new book How To Ditch Your Fairy while Westerfeld was there to promote Bogus To Bubbly. We are new to Mrs. Larbalestier work so we’re taking this time to catch up. I did ask Gossy what he thought of it but he threw a shoe at me and told me “Shh!! Reading…” We’ll just have to wait until he’s done to get a review…

Gossamer For Obama

Gossy for Obama

Everyone here at GATW hopes that you went out and voted! The great thing is that here in Texas, we got to vote early! Since it was our first election, (We were a few months too young last time) the people at the booths gave us candy, tons of stickers, and applauded us.

That was kind of neat.
