Day 83: WTF?

First off, meet Lil’ Gossamer! He’ll be joining us in our travels while Gossamer is missing…

For those who attend Austin Community College, you may have noticed the search for a new mascot. I am not sure how many people actually are going to concern themselves over this issue. In fact, we are pretty sure no one is going to remotely care what we have to say in this little blog post of ours. The thing is, we at Gossamer’s Travels are completely obsessed with what the new mascot is going to be. For a while, we were cheering to be Chupacapra’s! How amazing would that be? Unfortunately, that mascot never made it and our dream of being Team Chupacapra faded away. As of now, ACC is having a final vote on four mascots: River Bats, Starblazers, Blazers, and Bbhoggawacts.

We refuse to be called Starblazers or Blazers. End of story.

River Bats is cute but very unimaginative.

Bbhoggawacts. What the hell is a Bbhoggawacts? Well, Madam or Sir, I shall tell you! Acctually, I’m just going to copy and paste what the ACC website says:

Pronounced (bo-ga-wax). Did you know “Keep Austin Weird” started with ACC? Actually, it was the brainchild of ACC Professor James (Red) Wassenich. A Bbhoggawact not only embraces the “Keep Austin Weird” theme, it is also an acronym for the eight counties that make up ACC’s 7,000-square-mile service area. Cross out the vowels and you have (B)astrop, (B)lanco, (H)ays, (G)illespie, (G)onzales, (W)illiamson, (C)aldwell, and (T)ravis Counties. A Bbhoggawact is a fictional character, 100% original, and can be defined by the community.

We still have no freakin’ idea what a Bbhoggawacts is but we knew we desperately want that to be our mascot.

Yay Team Bbhoggawacts!!!!!!!!!

Mystery Letter?!

We were going to post our normal Gossamer 365 pics, but instead we have to show everyone this:

feb17pic49

We found this letter on our door. We’re pretty sure it’s from the mysterious green monster… mostly because of this picture:

watching gossy

We can see his mean little head peaking from behind the curtain. Unfortunately, we could not translate the letter so we sent it to a contact in North Carolina for translation. This contact will have a full translation tomorrow.

This is what the untranslated version says:

Gossamer

RAWR! RAWR
RAAAWR.. RARAWR!
Arg! Arg! Rawr! Rawr
Raaaa… Raarrww?
Rawr. Grrr [something crossed out] Rawr!
Raaaaaawr! RawR
RAWR! RAWR!

– F (RAWR!)

It could mean anything at this point!! Gossamer’s body guard is keeping an eye out and we’ve taken all precautions to make sure Gossy and GJ are safe. Our site’s 2 year birthday is tomorrow! We hope the green monster doesn’t do anything to ruin it!

Well, lets hope for the best…

Our Life Is Average… Sometimes

Our insane project continues with days 16 to 24!

Day 16

Day 16: Any Advice?

I started freaking out that I couldn’t get oil paint off my hands. Gossy told me to rub olive oil and salt on my hands then wash off with hot water. Afterward, wash hands with soap to remove the oil. Worked. like a charm!

Day 17

Day 17: Weirder Than Gossy

There are things out there even weirder than Gossy. This is a drawing given to us by Scott Sutton (FamileOfRee.com) at the Texas Book Festival last year. It’s seriously one of the cutest things we were ever given.

Day 18

Day 18: Lake Pflugerville

One of our favorite places in the world. 🙂

Day 19

Day 19: Research

Gossamer is so fed up with the scary, green monster that stalks him so decided to see if there was any info online. Sadly, we couldn’t find anything…

Day 20

Day 20: Just reading

Another average day, just reading. Gossy is such a bibliophile!

Day 21

Day 21: National Hugging Day

It was National Hugging Day!!! I hope you hugged your friends, family, and complete strangers!

Day 22

Day 22: Just, like, you know? Yea.... Totally.

It’s just an average week, not much to talk about or take pictures of. It happens.

Day 23

Day 23: One More Month Until...

I caught GJ looks at jewelry! It’s my birthday in exactly one month, I wonder what he’s getting me…

Day 24

Day 24: GJ is SO smart

GJ was just playing with my camera. We forgot to fix the time after Daylight Savings Day so some of the time stamps on our pictures were wrong. It’s all cool now 😉

So yea, boring week, we know. We’re just so busy working our tushies off trying to save for our Study Abroad trip to London, we haven’t had much time for real fun. Hopefully that will change soon or the first half of our 365 pictures a day project will be a bit lame.

Random Days for a Random Monster

Not much has been going on this week. We have been mostly focusing on settling in our new home. Luckily, we were able to go out and about and have some fun. We’re cool like that.

Day 12
Day 12: Fountain Fun
Tuesday was such a surprisingly nice day, we just HAD to spend it outside. Did you know tea, water fountains, and ignoring responsibilities are ingredients for a perfect day? Oh yes, it’s true.

Day 13
Day 13: WTF?
The green monster thing has defiantly followed us to our new home! (Click the picture for a better view) Gossy was just trying to make himself look nice for the day and then that thing appeared from behind the curtain. CREEPY!!!!!

Day 14
Day 14: Books Or Death
We have over 200 books… Organizing those after moving is not easy. Gossy got stuck on top of a tall pile…

Day 15
Day 15: ...blech...
Today was bleak. It started of a bit sunny but then quickly changed to Doom and Gloom. All we wanted to do was forget everything and crawl back into bed. Even heart-shaped monsters have bad days…

We’re not going to let a bit of bleakness stop us though! We have high hopes for the next few days, so Toodles for now!

New Home, New Adventures

We have moved out of our apartment. We are depressed but we now can focus on saving for our London trip. Only 5 more months and 1 day… not that we are counting or anything.

Until then, we shall continue with a ridiculously insane project of taking a picture everyday for a year.

Day 8
Day 8: Friends Say 'See Ya'
Our last group picture… for now. Gossy and Gj are in this picture with the folks we shared our apartment with. Tally (the Bunny in the pink shirt) came with us but Shay, (the other bunny) and Peace (the peace bear) went with my best friend Sara. She’s off starting a new life in college and we wish her the best. We wuv and you miss Sara, Tally, and Peace!!

Edit That little green monster sneaked into our apartment!!! He’s hiding in the back on the bed post. (Click the picture for a better look.) Ugh, that thing is really getting on our nerves. We might have to set up a trap for it soon.

Day 9
Day 9: Here We Are
Right now we’re just relaxing after a long day of working and moving. Gossy was lost in his thoughts thinking about the upcoming year.

Day 10
Day 10: Frost Tower
Frost Tower is just so freaking pretty… and best of all: SHINY!!

Day 11
Day 11: Late Night Snack
The past week has worn us all out. GJ comfort himself by indulging a night time snack of blackberries. Hmm… I wonder if anything bad could happen if he ate after midnight.

Ah well, Toodles!

7 Days Down!

The first 7 days down, 358 more to go! The last few days have been all about crashing at bookstores and cafe for our internet fix. Gossy has been coming down with a cold so GJ has been coming along with me. No worries though, Gossy will be better soon. I think the stress of the little green monster stalker and moving from our apartment has gotten the poor guy stressed out!! Whenever Gossamer catches of green fur, he starts freaking out!! The poor thing…

Well for now, all we can do is continue our project so here are Days 5 – 7.

Day 5
Day 5: Half-Priced Books
We’ve mentioned Half-Priced Books many times before and it still remains our favorite book store. We just love the smell of books that are really, really cheap.

Day 6
Day 6: At La Madeleine
Gossy and I have a writing group meet-up at the La Madeleine. Since Gossy is still feeling ill, GJ was with me. We arrived early to waste time looking up random facts that no one cares about… and watch YouTube. Lots and lots of YouTube.

Day 7
Day 7: Barnes & Nobles Today
It’s cold outside so GJ and I kept warm at Barnes & Nobles… where they just happen to have free WiFi. Yay for the little things that makes us happy!

Well that’s it for now! Toodles!

Taking a Break

During this month Gossamer and I will be working on Nanowrimo! If you are unfamiliar with it just out their website http://nanowrimo.org. It is National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel before the month ends. The only prize is the self satisfaction that you wrote a 50,000 word novel and lived to edit it the following month. We are a bit behind but catching up. It has defiantly been an interesting project and it has seriously driven us insane. I do not remember a time in our lives where we depended so much on caffeine.

In other news, our first attempt at the Gossamer 365 project did not do so well. (We have a weird love affair with insane projects.) It’s ok though, we want to try again but we are going to wait until January 1st. Also, with the new year coming, a lot of things will be changing. For one, Gossamer and family will be moving! Yup, we will be changing homes once again. We are still in the process of finding a new place, which is never fun. We are hoping to find something in the same general area. What we really want is to move to South Austin, but there is no way a heart-shaped monster can afford the apartments and studios there. We will continue to look though. We are also keeping our mind open to other options.

We also have been considering actually getting a real domain name for the site. We want to get on for the site’s two year birthday. We may even go as far as putting up a donation link to help with the funds. We know it the chances of someone donating to us just to get a domain name is one in a million, but it never hurts to try.

On a really serious note, Gossamer has been claiming to see a green creature stalking him. Neither GJ or I have seen it, but Gossamer says he saw something. He tells us it’s REALLY mean looking, fluffy, and has 3 horns. We are trying to get photographic evidence of this stalker. We will keep you up to date as the story progresses.

For funsies, here’s a picture of a pumpkin trying to eat gossamer:
Day 205: BAD HENRY!

Take Care!
